Plot continues from Iron Man (1968 1st series) 257. The second Michelinie-Layton run on the Iron Man 1st series ended with issue 250 in December 1989. But before leaving the title, the creative team had developed the plot for the second Armor Wars saga to be published in 1990. However the actual Armor Wars II saga was written by John Byrne and published in Iron Man 258-266. This four-issue limited series presents what the creative team for the first Armor Wars storyline originally had planned for the second saga with some modifications.
